Wrap up your fall décor with a Twine Topiary, plus the Fall Craft Giveaway winners, and a Country Living giveaway!

Twine, burlap and book pages – nothing special, right? Well, when Patty Schaffer works her magic, these basic supplies become a beautiful, DIY Twine Cone for fall. Pair this Twine Cone with the Fall, Burlap Wreath Patty shared last year, and your fall décor is ready to go! I am sharing Patty’s tutorial for the Twine Cone, and also announcing the winners of the Fall Craft Giveaway. And I have another giveaway today – weekend passes to the upcoming Country Living Fair! Woo-hoo! (If you live too far away to attend, I’ve got you covered, too.) It’s a long post, so let’s get on with the fall fun!

Pretty! Easy enough that you can make a pair or more in an afternoon. CraftsnCoffee.com.

Here’s the Fall Burlap Wreath Patty shared last year.

A beautiful, burlap wreath for fall. I love the square shape! CraftsnCoffee.com.

Beautiful Fall Burlap Wreath

The Cone and Wreath are so pretty on their own, and doubly so when paired together!

Love both of these, and perfect for fall. DIY on CraftsnCoffee.com.

Pair them together for your fall decor!

To make a Twine Cone, you’ll need:

  • STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:  9” cone
  • Twine or jute cord, 3-ply
  • Assorted papers:
    • Kraft paper
    • Book pages
    • Scrapbook paper (Patty used an orange patterned paper)
  • Burlap in orange
  • Jute mesh ribbon
  • Buttons, two in coordinating colors
  • Floral wire
  • Floral tape
  • Double-sided tape
  • Low-temp glue gun
  • Tools needed: Scissors; wire cutters; optional: flower punches

To make a Twine Cone:

1. Wrap several pieces of double-sided tape around the cone, and then fully wrap the cone with the jute or twine. You don’t have to wrap it neatly, feel free to wrap and overwrap. Use low-temp glue to secure, as needed.

2. Make three sizes of roses from the orange burlap. (Need help? Just follow this tutorial over on Craftaholics Anonymous.)

Lovely for fall! See the Twine Topiary on CraftsnCoffee.com.

The burlap, book pages, scrapbook paper and twine make a beautiful fall arrangement.

3. Cut oak leaves in various sizes from the book pages and kraft paper. Gently crumple the leaves. (Kathleen George shared an oak leaf pattern for her Autumn Yarn Wreath, and I found several leaf templates over on Jane’s Doodles, too.)

4. Using scissors or paper punches, cut two flowers from the orange scrapbook paper and two flowers from the book pages. Layer together an orange flower and a book page flower, and repeat, creating two pairs.

5. Shape a 2” length of floral wire into a ‘u’ shape, and insert it through a button. Center the button on a pair of flowers, and insert the wire through the flowers. Twist the wire tightly against the bottom of the flower, and wrap the wire with florist tape. Cut off extra wire, leaving a small ¼” – ½” tail.

Love these fall colors & textures! DIY on CraftsnCoffee.com.

Wrap the jute mesh ribbon on an angle around the bottom of the cone, and then add the flowers and leaves.

6. Wrap a length of jute mesh ribbon on an angle around the bottom of the cone. Glue in place.

7. Glue on orange burlap roses, paper flowers, and leaves.

Beautiful for fall! DIY Twine Topiary Cone on CraftsnCoffee.com.

Patty used a 9″ cone, but you can easily adapt this Twine Cone to other sizes.

Love the topiary. I did something similar to an old fashion oil can for my mother-in-law. It came out great, easy and fun to do. I live in MO and would not be able to make the trip, so magazine subscription would be wonderful to receive. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas. Keep ’em coming! Happy Autumn. 😉

  3. Veronica says:

I was pinning a topiary on pinterest and found your Crafts ‘n Coffee site; am now a follower. By the way I’m addicted to crafting and coffee, so I am in heaven. A magazine subscription to Country Living would be great!
