Summer fun kid’s craft: Make a little green Martian

Kid's summer craft: Little Green Aliens

Summer Craft Boredom Buster: Little Green Men are fun for one or a crew of crafters.

At Crafts ’n Coffee, I don’t usually post on a Wednesday.  But, because it’s summer, and it’s hot, and there’s no school, and the kids have been home for maybe a week and are already chanting “I’m so bored  . . . there’s nothing to do,” I’m introducing a new Wednesday feature – Summer Craft Boredom Busters.  Throughout the summer, I’ll feature a kid’s craft every Wednesday, and we’ll have a few fun giveaways, too.

Today, because you might be looking at your kids and wondering “where did these little aliens come from anyway?” I thought I’d share our Little Green Men.  These wacky aliens are a great way to use up felt scraps, leftover yarn, and other materials you already have on hand.  While you can use the photo as a reference, encourage your kids to use their imaginations and create their own versions of our little Martians.  Step-by-step instructions for the Little Green Men are available on

The Little Green Men are fun for a group craft, too.  If you’re lucky, once the kids are done creating their Martians, they’ll keep busy playing with the little guys.

We have an out-of-this-world giveaway this week, too.  In keeping with the outer space theme, we’re giving away a Solar System Kit. The kit contains all of the pre-painted shapes you will need to make your own solar system.  To win, just leave a comment below and tell us what your kids are crafting this summer.  The contest closes Tuesday, June 21, and we’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, June 22.

Double your chance of winning by sharing photos of your summer craft  adventures on our Facebook page.  Post your Summer Craft Boredom Buster photo by end of day Tuedsay, June 21, on our Facebook page, and your name will be included in our drawing for the Solar System Kit.

Thank you and good luck!

Happy crafting!
