Here’s a favorite springtime flower craft of mine, Pink Posy Purse, created by artist and floral designer Diane Flowers (with a name like Flowers, I think Diane was destined to become a floral designer!). To make the Pink Posy Purse, Diane covered an 8” x 4” x 2” block of STYROFOAM Brand Foam with black & white paisley scrapbook paper. Then, she shaped a handle from a beaded garland and attached it using pins and glue. Next, she trimmed the flower stems to 2” and inserted them in the top. It’s really that easy, and step-by-step instructions are available on www.styrofoamcrafts.com.
Besides being pretty, one of the reasons I like this design is that it’s so versatile. You can change the papers and flowers so that it matches your color scheme. You could even cover the purse in fabric instead of scrapbook papers. It’s also an inexpensive way to create custom centerpieces for bridal showers, baby showers and weddings. Thinking ahead, what about making a Pink Posy Purse for Mother’s Day on May 8?
Here are two more variations on a theme – Ooh-la-la Floral Purses, also designed by Diane. See how easy it is to change the look?
Do you have crafty plans for the weekend? Will you be making a fun, flower-ful craft? Or perhaps wrapping up your Easter crafting? (We’re dying eggs at my house.)
