Dress up your Christmas decor with easy, Christmas rose centerpieces

Roses are like a classic string of pearls – always appropriate. Today’s beautiful, DIY Christmas centerpieces all feature the classic rose. These Christmas centerpieces also use the time-saving foam cube, which serves as an all-in-one vase and base. Dress it up with paper, birch bark, or cover it in clay, wallpaper or even grass. Whatever you’re planning for your Christmas tablescape, think about how you can adapt these ideas for your table.

how to make a Christmas rose centerpiece for a Christmas tablescape

Diane stamped and painted air-dry clay to create this textured surface.

I’ll start with the Clay Covered Candle Cube & Roses by Diane Flowers. Yep, that’s air-dry clay on the foam cube. You paint it and stamp it and then let it dry. It’s not hard, and the finish is beautiful.

Wrap textured wallpaper, scrapbook paper, or just a decorative paper around your foam base.

Diane also designed the rose topped Textured Cube & Roses, and she wrapped it up in a big red bow, too. Diane covered the cube in textured wall paper, and if you don’t have wallpaper handy, you could use textured scrapbook paper, or really any paper at all.

Stack two, 8″ foam cubes and cover with preserved or silk grasses to create a tall vase. Change out the flowers with the seasons.

And for the finale, Diane made an 8” tall “vase” from STYROFOAM Brand Foam, and covered it in preserved grasses. Diane fashioned the vase for her Elegant Christmas Rose Centerpiece by cutting it from a foam block, however, it’s even easier to simply stack together two 4” cubes. After the holidays, Diane suggests removing the Christmas flowers and adding new flowers. I love this repurposing idea.

Please remember that today is the last day to enter in the giveaway for Rosie O’Donnell’s Crafty U 200-page family craft book. I’ll announce the winner tomorrow.

Happy Christmas crafting.

P.S. Did you know there are two Christmas songs about Christmas Roses: “The Legend of the Christmas Rose” by George Jones and “Christmas Roses” by Hank Snow. I don’t believe I’ve heard either song, have you?

  1. Hi Sharon, I have not heard of these songs, either! I thought I knew every Christmas song…now I have to look these up. :). The centerpieces are stunning….what a fabulous hostess gift any of these would make. If any of my holiday guests see this, take note! Thanks for sharing and I really enjoy your blog! Happy holidays!
