Thumbtacks – do you give them much thought? Probably not (unless you need one and can’t find one anywhere in the house). However, when you craft with thumbtacks, these humble pins are suddenly transformed into an industrial chic fashion statement. Kim at Design Thoughts channeled this idea when she made her Thumbtack Monogram.

Kim made her thumbtack initial for less than $10! She started with a disc of STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam, but if you need a larger size, you can also use a 1” x 12” x 36” sheet. I have a few cutting tips for you, to keep it easy. Kim even had her young son Liam help out.

Kim used about 400 thumbtacks on her letter “S”.
